Shhhhh – There may be a TIGER!!!

“What Papa!!! No ways I m not coming to Corbet. I just can’t leave in a forest, Dad.”

“Beta, just come ones You will love it.”

“Ok Papa, I m coming on your force only, but better we go to some zoo. You will not have to find animals at least.”

“Now no argument, We are going there and its final.”

First time dad says something this much firmly. So finally I had to go to Corbet National Park. Before 5 years, We went for a trip to Corbet, Nainital, Kasauni, Ranikhet and ---------. But I had great time in Corbet. Because it was a place to feel rather to see.

Corbet is 45 km away from Nainital. It is expanded over 250 sqkm area. It is devided in 4 parts. We were able to visit only two of them. Amdanda & Dhikala. Amdanda is Dry area & Dhikala is core and more of grace land.

It is 4:00 am. And we are outside the gate of Amdanda. Papa went to feel some forms. “If an Animal hurt you in the forest, We are not responsible and Please write address of your relative to send your dead bodies if you died in any case in this forest.”, this was written on the form. And the excitement started at this moment. Voice of a bird(Titodi) was only there. It was an Osom feeling. A very big line of jeeps was there. Our totally open Gipsy took 2 hours to cross the Amdanda gate. At there we got a page written rules. I step down from my geep to take it, and suddenly a spotted dear came. I get surprised & went to touch it. It was not more than 1 foot away from me. But a guard came and didn’t allow me to do so. Because it was return in rules. There was another rule that we cannot step down from gipsy in any case unless it is said by our gaurd.

Our first Safari started: The forest was so thick, we were not able to see more than 10 feet around us. Only a road made by tires was seen. Suddenly (na not tiger) big ground of coloring stones came and again trees. The way was just unpredictable, Anywhere on the ground some water springs were there. On the way we saw so many spotted dears, Sambhars, Barasinghas, and so many different kind of beautiful birds. A bird named Nilkanth was my favourite. It was combination of Blue and red color and very small in size.(We were not having DGCam. L) Even we saw 6 peacocks & 1 of dem was taking mud bath. That scene was osom. Have you seen a movie Kaal ? If yes then there was a bridge shown in that movie. We were passiong through it & (wow) we saw foot prints of a Tiger. And the safari ended in 4 hours. Back 2 hptel in a village Ramnagar near this forest.

In evening we went to Dhikala. It’s a core part of the forest. We had a night stay there. Our stay was 30 km inside this. We reached there in the evening. Every one cannot stay in this cortages. But we got the stay somehow(luckily). To get out of the room b/w 7:00 pm to 5:30 am. There were a little mess for our lunch & dinner. We got the room exactly same which John had in the movie(its true).

So many gaurds, and some forest people were staying there. All of them had different stories of this forest. We talked to them for some time. Very near to this place there was a dead body of a Sambhar. Last night tiger killed it & left it half eaten. 2nd day morning we waked up at 4:30 with voise of Titodi. I opened the door of balcony & side the curtains of the jail at the end of balcony & the time stoped. I saw a tiger(It might be a tigress) with 4 children behind the jail. I shouted at my parents & they ran to the ground. Parents saw them running. Ya there is a big ground behind our resident & after it there is a reiver then again groud and then thick forest. This grounds are of very long grass of charas. With lots of excitement we preapared for our 2nd safari.

Our second Safari started: In this area There is a river passing through a forest & its reservoir is also there. We went to see the reservoir. On our path we saw again many dears and birds. WE reached the reservoir. It was very huge. There were so many crocodiles and alligators at the shore. The scene was awesome. Then we were coming back to our location, On the way we sounded a call of birds & monkeys. It is there typical kind of voice when they are scared. The guard says when tiger around they give this call. So he stopped the gipsy b/w the grass land. And we saw some grass was vibrating. So guard says shhh it may be a tiger but it was a very cute rabbit coming out of it. After a few second we saw a jackal running after it and then finally we saw a tiger running after jackal and get in to grass land & we saw his jump above 4 to 5 feet high grass. On the way we saw a vulture sitting on a branch of a tree & it was so scary because it was looking towards us only. We reached back in 6 hours.

After luch I was walking around our residence of course in the secured area. The ground behind our resident was full of animals like dears & sambhars etc… I was watching them and suddenly I saw no one was there because there were 2 tigers running. Really they are the king of this forest. I feel like all the things there were for tigers only. And I saw one tiger crossing a river. I missed my parents and sis at that time very much.

Likely at 4:00 pm we started our return journey. On this way we saw on one tree a signature of tiger. That was scratches of his nails. It is said that all tigers have their particular territories and it marked like this. And with some more peacocks, dears, monkeys and barasinghas our journey end. Opss we were just thinking this & we sound some scary noise & it was increasing. We were just not getting what it was. & we saw a very big group of elephants were crossing the path just behind us. And finally the excitements get over.

This journey was just not forgettable and full of excitements. I love corbet.

Why a story book?

I, Abhigna, an average looking college going ordinary girl but am dreaming extra ordinary things. I live two parallel lives, One which you see & the another one which only I see. But the tragedy is many times I get confused between two of them, and it been difficult for me to identify the real phenomenon.
As I go for a sleep or even sitting alone, a new movie (Dream) starts. And if it brake without end I again sleep for a while & give it happy endings. Thats why I love dis imaginary life as it goes my way. I m gonna write this dream stories on dis blog & some real also....
